Ms. Rogachefsky is an attorney representing clients in the areas of family law (divorce, dissolution, custody, visitation, child support, domestic violence), juvenile law (dependency, neglect, abuse, delinquency), criminal defense, and general litigation. Her areas of special interest are criminal and civil domestic violence. HISTORY Ms. Rogachefsky has extensive training and experience in domestic violence. She worked her way through law school as a court-appointed public defender. In this position she represented hundreds of indigent clients, many of whom were charged with domestic violence. After law school, Ms. Rogachefsky became a volunteer AmeriCorps attorney with the Appalachian Ohio Domestic Violence Project advocating for and representing indigent victims of domestic violence in four counties through the Southeastern Ohio Legal Services field office in New Philadelphia, Ohio. She represented clients in obtaining court-ordered protection and legal matters arising from domestic violence including: divorce, custody, child support, housing, and public benefits. She collaborated with community service providers to educate the community and expand domestic violence services by conducting seminars and working closely with local domestic violence shelters. Other projects included: drafting forms for the Holmes County Pro Se Divorce Clinic, creating brochures about the Department of Human Services' Prevention, Retention, and Contingency programs, conducting a survey of criminal domestic violence prosecutions, and producing the domestic violence video "Ending the Violence." She has also received extensive training in domestic violence law from seminars and workshops. Ms. Rogachefsky was born and raised in Rochester, New York. She earned her Bachelor's degree from Syracuse University in 1991 and her law degree from the University of Akron, School of Law in 1997. She was admitted to practice in Ohio in 1997, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio in 1998 and the Northern District of Ohio in 2002. She is a member Phi Alpha Delta (National Law Fraternity) and Director of Mentoring for International Referral Network. She is a past member of the Erie County Family Law Committee, Ohio State Legal Services Statewide Family Law Task Force, the Holmes County Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Task Force, Holmes County Community Resource Council, and the Past President of the University of Akron's Law Association for Women. |
